Hey guys.  I'm about to purchase some speakers and have come to a fork in the road.  I am wanting to purchase these Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers and the ones I want are 2-way.  But for $30 more, I can get the 3-ways.  Is it worth the money? If so, whats the advantage of having a 3-way pair instead of a 2-way pair?  Thanks for the loads of help!

I have a pair of 3 ways and 2 ways in my car. The 3 ways are better for most applications when used in the front of the car. First of all its an extra speakers so its going to be louder than a 2-way. Second, the speakers will have more specific freqs assigned to them by the crossover so the will have less of a chance of blowing when properly amplified.

A dissadvantage is that most cars dont have factory locations for 3 ways so you have to custom mount usually atleast one of them.

Another opinion for ya. I prefer most 2 ways as I find 3 way coaxial to be to pitchy. I would go in to an audio shop and listen to both. The other thing to think about is most of the time if they are going in the front doors they are pointing at your legs, not really optimum for high freqs. So if you are willing to go through modifying your door panel to accept 3 ways get a component set and you can mount the tweeter where you want it to be...Just my opinion, I am sure you'll get many more..........

With my first post I was assuming you were talking about components. If your car doesnt already have components, Go ahead and get the 2 - way components and mount the tweeter wherever you find that it sounds the best.

IMO, most 2-way coaxial speakers sound better than 3-way coaxial speakers from the same company.
