I just had to vent.  One channel of my McIntosh MCC204 amplifier just went out.  Driving home from the store and lost left front channel.  Checked out the system and it's my beloved (and expensive) amplifier.  Dammit.  Swapped in another amp I had laying around and it's good for now, but simply not the same.  Crap.  Time to call McIntosh repair and see how much THIS is going to cost me to fix. I am wized.

Thanks Jeff.  Yea I may want that name just for comparison if you want to PM me.  McIntosh has no one to answer the phone until Monday anyway.  Damn.

It sucks more than that, Rob.  The amp is only five years old...  I'll be happy to take a road trip to the great white north one day and sure I'll bring my work clothes.  What, you need a few lessons?  Arghh! Channel Out -- posted image.

Rob's still trying to digest what Jeff taught him.  It'll take a couple of years ;)
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Sorry to hear that.  Also try e-mailing Dan Wiggins about the problem.  He has people on his staff that could probably fix the amp, or knows trustworthy people that could do the work for you.

UPDATE. Got a call yesterday from a repair shop. They found the only thing wrong with my amp is the crossover circuit board had vibrated loose from the mother board in the amp. They re-seated it and locked it down and everything works perfectly. In fact, they bench tested the amp and it exceeds factory specs. This is only costing me $40 for the time and test, and they will send me a test results certificate. (FYI, the amp is full class A rated at 10Hz-40KHz, 50 WPC at 4-ohms with 0.01% THD. They said it was testing at 62 WPC with less than 0.005% THD. Cool.)
My faith in McIntosh is restored. Arghh! Channel Out -- posted image.

sweeeet...
Glad to hear it didn't cost an arm and a leg, and you'll be back on the road with proper tunes in NO time!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
