Does anyone know what is the maximum depth for the door speakers of a 2001 Toyota Corolla. I need this info urgently so that I can buy the right ones within the next 10 hrs.

The time it would take to remove those panels will save you many headaches from some one giving you the wrong info, or guessing.

You will more than likely end up with a speaker ring/adapter that will add depth, so remove the panels and check it out so there is no doubt.

Jeff scoffed my crystal ball when he was out here, so your guess is as good as mine. Actually I would say screw the mounting depth, it's custom time.

I agree with dwarren, just take off your door panel and measure for yourself. Its not all that hard. Chances are you wont have any issues with mounting depth unless you are trying to mount an actual subwoofer or spend a couple thousand on some super high end speakers that have abnnormal mounting depth.

Since you do not have access to the vehicle, here is my suggestion through experience;

Just about any common co-axial speaker will fit in there. I went to Crutchfield and they list just about every speaker made.

not much, less than like 2.25" maybe less, when i installed my Sony speakers in my Totoya Corolla 2001 they're almost touched the windows when it was down. Then when i changed my Sony speakers for MTX speakers, the MTX didn't fit, they touched the windows, what i did was i cut 3/4" and 1/2" of Mdf rings and place them on the door so the speakers can fit, and that help me out. I have an Toyota Corolla 2001 japanese model, i don't know what you have if it is Japanese or Us model, and i don't know if they're the same. but dobble check it before you buy the speakers.

Mine is a japanese model and I do remember a guy saying that the depth was very shallow. The speakers I was looking at was about 2 1/16 in depth. I am not sure if I want to take the risk.

yes the depth is very shallow. My Sony speakers mounting depth was like 2.25" and they fit with no problem, but i re-use the carton ring of the factory speakers for them. my MTX speakers is like 3" and they did't fit without some mods(MDF rings), since you also have the japanese model in your case i think the speakers(2 1/16) you are planning to use will fit, but you have to use the cartoon ring of the factory speakers or make your own MDF rings of 3/4".
but if i was you i'll double check it.
what speakers are you planning to use, 6 1/2" diameter?
