Factory CD/Cassette cleaning issue

Hi, I have a 2001 Chevrolet Express Van with a CD/Cassette combo deck and I'm trying to clean the cassette player using an Allsop cassette tape cleaner. The display keeps saying "Clean". It won't let me clean it. Do I have to use a Q-tip and alcohol to clean the head and rollers? Thanks

press and hold the eject button for 6 seconds to reset the clean indicator... it will come on again after 30 hours of tape play.....Kevin Gerry

Thanks! It worked! But now if I put a tape in, the deck just spits it out right away. any suggestions?

Try another tape. The factory deck checks for the correct pressure and tension on cassette reels. You may have to rewind and fast forward the tape on another deck first. If this fails, the deck will likely need servicing. Don't try cleaning the unit unless you can dismantle it. It is better to use a high quality tape deck cleaner that uses a fluid solution applied to a cassette. Getting a Q-tip stuck in the mechanism or rubbing alcohol where it doesn't belong can cause problems too.sparky

Yeah, I tried a couple of different tapes including a cleaning tape where you add alcohol to it. It spits that tape out too. Sounds like there could be a problem inside the deck, right. thanks for your suggestion
