Finally fired up our BMW M-3. It has an Alpine IVA-D310, PXA-H701 processor, (2) PDX-1.1000s, PDX-4.150, (2) pair JL ZR-525csi and (2) 12" W6V2 in a custom fiberglass enclosure. There were some questions here about the power ratings on the PDX amps. Disregaurd those questions, these things CRANK! We are still tuning this thing, but right out of the box it sounded amazing. I think when all is said and done it will be the best SQ car that has ever left this shop. Hamfist, come and gettum'!

Sounds good there, but I need some in person confirmation. Perhaps you should make an appearance at the next 12volt gathering.
I'd like to play with that h701, thats for sure. Who likes Eclipse any way, bunch of flea market crap.

OK, Bob! Lemme know how much for 2 1.1000's for the subwoofer, and 2 4.150's for the doors! Two of those thousand watters drive the SW9122 pretty good, ya think?
Ow... Dan... flea market crap? wow... Alpine PDX amp update -- posted image.
For sale! Eclipse amps! DA7232 2 channel, 34230 stereo, 32440 4 channel, 3122 stereo amps... PM me for prices!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I'd still like to bench test one to see how much power supply sag there is.  They are just so small.  I got one of our demo units to cut out with a pair of 10W6's running at 1 ohm.  There's one going into a customers Hummer at work right now, so I will see how they do in a proper install.

Steven, I've learned that anything a fraction below 2 ohms is death to Alpine D block amps. A 10" W6V2 actually is 1.8 ohms with the coils in parallel and it shuts off all of my Alpine demo amps. The 12" W6V2 measures 2 ohms exactly ( I don't know why ) and the amps have no problem.

Dave, I'll PM you with prices and they are in stock.

Guys, lets do the get together, times a wasten'. I've even conviced the fiance to leave for the weekend. Good times are between now and the third week of July. Dave, Dwarren, Dyohn,Forbidden, Velocity and any body else who wants to come to Caly, get off your butts it's time to make this thing happen! First round is on me!

Are you using a multimeter on ohms to measure that resistance?  Because if you are, then you are measuring the DC resistance.  Impedance is an AC resistance that varies with frequency, and nominal impedance (what the subwoofer is rated at) should be the lowest resistance the subwoofer will go.  If rated correctly the nominal impedance will be higher than the DC resistance.  That's why most 4 ohm rated speakers have a DCR of around 3.2 ohms.

Didn't know that Steven, but thinking about does make sense. But why would the 10" W6V2 read differantly then the 12" when they are both rated the same?

You should join us at the 12 volt first annual get together/BBQ.
