1992 Nissan 240SX Deck

Hey guys, this is my first post on 12v.com Its a very helpful and useful site but when i obtained the wiring diagram off the site for installing a 92 240sx headunit installation, it didn't work out so well. Basically i've been sitting on my driveway trying to get my deck to light up. I connected all of the speaker wires but whats giving me the most problem is the 12v, Ignition and the Ground. I am not using a wiring kit, just cutting, splicing and taping like I usually do. Whats bothering me most is that i dont know where to ground.. maybe this is what the problem is..I got my buddy to come down with his 240 and i saw his ground wire coming out of his deck and it wasn't connected to anything! So i said to my self how is his deck working with no Ground connected?..anyways im real bummed, if anyone could help me out since i've tried matching the wires the exact same as my friends deck but still no luck. P.s I do headunits all the time but i've never gotten so much stress like i did today, maybe because its a nissan? Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

A lot of Nissans will ground themselves though the antenna.  If you have power/ignition.  Make sure it's plugged in and it should power up.  To ground it right find a metal surface and screw it in although not all metal is a ground under the dash of a car.....

im still having problems.. so i ground the BLACK cable coming out of the deck onto a piece of metal.. and what do i do with the antenna wire?

Do not rely on the antenna to act as a ground for the radio. Do run a new wire from the deck to a solid peice of metal in the dash or under the dash if necessary.Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Plug the antenna wire back into the deck and also ground the aftermarket deck to a solid grounding plane.

Note: Just because there's metal in the dash, doesn't automatically mean that this metal is a grounding plane. Some peices of metal in dashes are attached to plastic and are not grounded whatsoever.
