I just installed a Poineer Head Unit (not sure what model), two JL Audio 12's, and a 1200.2 Sony Xplod amp in my friends truck and we are getting a lot of engine noise out of the subs. Im thinking it might be coming from the ground, I grounded the amp to a bracket under his center console and I think this bracket is connected to his transmission, is this engine noise from the ground or is it coming from some other source?

Probably a bad ground.  Read the ground sticky at the top of this forum.

I dont think it is the preouts because the kid he bought it from had a sub hooked up to it before and it didnt have any engine noise, ill go ahead and find another ground and see how that works out.
