basically i just bought a 2000 cavalier and am transfering my aftermarket system from my old car to it. everything has gone as expected, but when i started wiring i realized that the new wire harness i bought has an orange wire for "illumination", but theres nothing to match it with on my sony head. i have power, cds can be fed and ejected but i have no light at all, what should i do?

the harness BB sold me is an GSXL, and the hu is a sony rx, idk if that helps at all

that illumination wire provides 12V whenever your headlights are on. It is used to active the auto-dimming feature on some head units. Sounds like your head unit does not have this feature.

do you mean the head unit has no lights on the face, or you have no dash lights?

Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.
