excesive current draw

I have a 1991 Buick Regal and there are two fuses which control the radio. One is marked "radio" and the other is marked "elec". I have about a 2-amp drain that goes away when I pull the "elec" fuse (15A). I don't know if this fuse runs anything else but the stereo system but that seems to be the only thing that goes off when I pull the fuse. I have nothing that shows what this fuse runs, if anything, besides the stereo. I need some kind of diagram.Bruce Ostrander

Disconnect the radio completely, THEN see if there is still the current draw. If so, then it is obviously another device, somewhere, pulling the power. This is where the troubleshooting should start. By the name of the fuse - "elec" - my guess is there IS something else there. :::::EDIT::::: As I was hitting the post button, I thought; "Did he unplug the cigarette lighter?" Try that also, see if it's that.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I figured with a name like "elec" there had to be something else also, but couldn't find anything that caused the drain to go away, and yes, I did try unplugging the cig. lighter. No effect.Bruce Ostrander
