too much amp?

I've got a set of Focal 165v2's in the front and the 6x9 access in the rear deck, with MBq's 5x7 (temp) in the rear doors. I am about to hook up my JL 450/4 amp to these.  The Eclipse AVX5000 is on the way, but right now I am still running the panacrap I bought till the new unit arrives. Question is am I looking at blowing the speakers in the system with this really nice amp??????

Right now I am running the all the speakers on the JL 300/4, I just got the JL450/4, Both are good amps and would like to use both.  ((also will have the 1000/1 soon))   My worry is that the Focal 165v2's (nominal 75 max 150) are a little light for the 450/4 front channels which are 150rms.. Would rather put the 165's in the back doors, and on the back channels then put them in the garbage can, with too much ooopmfff from the amp. Or is this really an issue to be concerned with???

No problem as long as you set everything up carefully.  Go through the steps of setting gains all over again when you switch amps.  Here is a link to a thread where I linked some other individual threads; you should find test tones and other sources of info and help.

What I'd do in this situation:  after setting gains by listening for clipping, test the voltage output at the speaker output terminals.  Back the gains down if necessary to match output voltage to the desired RMS of the speakers (use Ohms's Law to find voltage).

Thanks for the replies and the link. I've gotten a bit deeper into this system than I thought I would but,, Pulse was finally released and I really want to do that one in particular some serious justice. Mostly the whole 70's era music is going to be blaring from this set up.  and NO NOT DISCO

Looking at the stuff so far I think I've only gone over by about twice what I told the wife I was going to blow on this but,, lol I'm no where near done yet. AVX5000 w/DCU105 is replacing the panacrap dvd and still have the sub end to re-work.

I've been bouncing around the www world and yes I have to agree this is one of the better if not the best of the sights I have run across. I found http://www.cardomain.com/ride/822243/3 on this sight and it was the main draw for me here. This is the set up I am after with just a few minor changes, do not want a carbon copy of it but man it's one heck of a nice set up. I spoke with one of the guys that did the install and tried to get the measurements for the sub box but, lol I think he is holding out on me.   I built the sub box using the size of the subs as a visual (and even used A-cad-14 to draw it out) for the overall size of the box but found I do not have the power or the mass for a sealed box   yet,,, key word is yet!!!! Need the trunk space for the day-to-day grocery getting, and the, clubs. Will be going with the 10w7's. Bad thing is I know I am going to have to do something about the power in,,,, the cute lil alternator stock with the car is just that, stock, melting that might be cool to watch, but not a good thing to do to the rest of the car or the system in the mean time.

So the bottom line here is thanks for the help. I am sure I will need a lot more,  and please keep an eye out for this "fast approaching geriatric rocker". Hey I couldn’t do it right when I was young and poor so I am making up for it now that I'm older and staying poor ,,, lol!!!!!

How many 10w7s? Reason i ask is because JL amps are designed to work between 1.5-4 ohms where if you run 3 like the vehicle you show there your going to get a 1 ohm load on that amp and it may not work like you want it to...just a heads up! good luck and it should sound great when you get it done
