ok well i put my mono amp in the other day and it doesnt seem to work. i was hooking it up to one 4ohm sub. does it matter that i hooked it up to a 4ohm sub when the amp is rated for 1 and 2 ohm? but i have a sginal to the amp and the power light is coming on. so if the power light is coming on doesnt that mean my power and my ground are good? so what else could it be? any ideas?

well i should have power because i have a distribtuion block and my speaker amp is working fine. and i do have a fuse in for the mono amp. i do know the sub is good becasue it came out of my old truck and it still works.

i have an eclipse avx 5000. is there an option that turns the sub on and off?

for the signal wire i tested it for continuity while it was off to make sure the wire wasnt pinched from anything. how do i test the signal wire while the radio is on?

also i am not getting an output from the amp.

the amp is brand new. it is an Arc Audio foose desing 1200.1

well..to get a reading on the remote wire when it's on. just put the volt meter to the proper range (closes't to 12 volts) and ground one lead and put the other lead on the remote wire at the amp and turn the cd player on...if there's power it should read at least 12.4 volts. i'd also do the same across the + and - terminals of the amp just to make sure there's a min of 12.4 volts getting there (14.4 is what you want with the vehicle running) but i've seen an amp turn on with only 10-11 volts but not enough to produce any sound..

sorry if i was unclear but i meant how to measure the rca's. i know the remote turn on, power, and ground are all working.

can anybody help me out? i can figure out what is wrong. im getting power and remote turn on wire is working. the amp power light is on. im not getting anything from the output of the amp. when i test the rcas im getting a small voltage when i got from the outer part to the inner part. is that how they are suppsoe to be tested or what? would my dvd player have to where i can turn the sub on and off? really need help. thanks

Yes, measure ac voltage from the inner to the outer conductor of the rca's. If you've got signal, then it looks like your amp is bad. Try another.

well i measured the voltage and im getting around .004 volts. or 4mV. is that right or what should it be reading?

ya my dvd player has a preout of 5 volts. so i should be reading closer to 5 volts then?

Yes, .004 volts is 4 mV. Sounds like you've identified the problem- good job. I'd take the dvd player back for service or a replacement.
