Hey guys I am back again for some of that good advice. I am upgrading my battery under the hood to one of those kinetic ones. I have a 2001 Infiniti i30 with a 120 stock alternator. DO I have to match the amps of the new battery to the one I am replacing? Or can it be much higher and not casue any problem. I would hate to put a battery that might be too strong for my car and wreck something. Thanks

No. No problem... the car will only pull as much current as it needs, REGARDLESS of the amp-hour rating or current capacity of the battery...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Ok great. But I am guessing if I go get one of those huge 1600-2200 amp batteries. That is not good for my alternator? Or will it be fine? Does that mean the bigger the battery the harder the alternator has to work?

Your guessing wrong.  It will not harm your alterantor. It will be fine, the fun part will be trying to fit a battery that big in the factory battery trayWhich battery to choose? -- posted image..

Yea well my factory battery is pretty huge but yea I dont think I need one of those huge 2000 amp ones. So its the more amps the battery is the longer you can play the stereo when the car is off right? So when the car is on does having more amps in your battery make any special difference in anything? And the Kinetic batteries seem to say they have the best density. So that means your volts will nto drop as low when the bass hits being more dense if i understand correctly?

Yeah but if you have an aftermarket sound setup, it's not recommended.

As for part two (special differnces) you will be able to hit the system harder for longer periods without risking the system.

As for Kinetic's claim... It varies based on construction, materials, etc. of the battery. As for voltage drop, how many amps are you drawing for your sound system? If you are worried about voltage drops during the peaks, get a stiffening capacitor for your system (about 1 farad for every 1000 watts) For the most part, their claim is MOSTLY true. There are a few other brands that can do the job just as good.

Suggesting a cap?? Yeah sure...it'll provide power for about .000045 seconds before it is drained during hard bass drops

And also my amp is drawing 80 amps and probably close to full draw as I am running it at 1 ohm mono.

Kinetik is a great battery....while Audioforce is just the same quality battery with better customer service
Im just starting what I have learned over the period of the last year and a half...Kinetik disrespected myself, my girlfriend and another competitor all withen a 3 month span...bassically selling us product, and then not honoring the warranty they said the products would have.   I hate to drag personal problems with a company onto this fourm, but I have to state what I know, as that is what I am here for!
