hello,

My car doesnt have that bad of altenator whine but i can hear it mostly at low volumes. I want it gone! I took it to get checked out and I am being told it is coming from my Head Unit. I noticed that when one of the rear output RCAs touched the Head Units chassis the whine went away. (not the smartest thing to do but it worked...) The technician told me to buy a new Head Unit... I dont think so. Is there something i can do to that RCA plug simulating it being placed on the chasis of the Head Unit and have it be safe for my system?

This is my system

Pioneer AVIC N3

Stinger Wiring HPM 4 gauge and 0 gauge

Hifonics zx4000

Hifonics Bx1500

Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1

2 Kicker Solobaric 15' L7

1 Farad Cap

Please help!

ground the head unit to the same place the amps are grounding... Make sure your RCAs never come within 8" of a power wire.... you didn't cross them at teh amp or anything.

ground the outer shield of your rca's to the chasis of the h.u., there are many post pertaining to the exact problem you are having. It has become common pioneer h.u. to have this problem. If you do a search there are a few solutions you could try.

I had the same problem with my pioneer 7700,I tried the ground loop isolator and it didn't help.I took a stainless steel wire and striped it down and wrapped it around where the cables plug into the jack and grounded it to the head unit.I havn't had any trouble since.I am goanna ground the HU to the chassis and see if that will take care of the problem too.I will let ya know if it works.

Does that mean to ground the actual output RCA that comes in the wiring harness to the HU. I need to cut it open and then solder it to the HU or something? Can I plug a RCA cable into the output and run it to a ground on the car chasis?
