hey guys,

I have a memphis mc500d mono amp, and up until last week it's worked flawlessly, last week i changed my kicker L5 10" out for 2 xtant 10"s(the kicker was sounding terrible) When I hooked the xtants up, I ran them parallel, the next day or so the amp started shutting down with the fuse fault light coming on, I could usually turn the volume down and the subs would start playing again(fuse fault light would of course go out), this evening I was going over all my wires to make sure everything was connected right, and the light came on and is permanantly on now, I don't have a manual now nor did I when i bought the amp new last year.  Just from experience, can anyone point me in the right direction as to what might be causing this issue?  Just off the top of my head, i'm thinking the amp wiring is 4 ga from battery back to a 1 farad  cap, then 4 ga from there back to a distribution block and 8 guage off the block to the MC500D, the other side of the distribution block has an 8 ga wire going to a Memphis PR200.2 that's running my mids and high's...any help would be greatly appreciated!  Oh btw the xtants are single voice coil 4 ohm speakers.

found a blown 25A fuse in the amp(1 0f 2) possible the fuse was burning out on me and finally fizzled or would they normally just go pop..? anyhow replaced the fuse, everythings working fine again and there's not cut off like there has been the last couple of days.

What's the impedance load of the new subwoofers in your wiring configuration?  Sounds to me like you may have simply overloaded the amp.  Also, are you sure the new subs are not defective and not shorting out?  Is your speaker wiring intact and not shorting out?  If the impedance of the new speakers is different from the old speakers, did you properly reset your input gain control?

Dyohn, the new subs are single coil 4 ohm wired in parallel, so it's showing the amp a 2 ohm load, and I know the amp is good to 1 ohm so that's a go there, the subs are subs I took out of the wifes SUV about a year ago when i downsized her box to a single JL 10, the speakers are good, I've had a friend that has used them off and on over the past couple months, I checked the wiring this morning and and all looked good, but the one thing I didn't do is reset the input gain control which I will be sure to do in a bit, but yea I went from 1 10" Kicker L5 dual 2ohm to 2 xtant 10" single 4ohm subs so there is a difference.

Correction...the MC500D is not stable at 1 ohm...lowest load is 2 ohms...the MC1000D is stable at 1 ohm

Well son of a gun, you're right azznboi, it is 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms, since I don't have a manual I was going off the power reference numbers, didn't pay attention to the Class D amp, not sure, mine is an 05 model, it's chrome, not black looking and the logo is on along one edge, maybe mine's an 04 model I can't remember now, but I bought it mid year last year tho i do know that for a fact, cause I had to buy a new amp after all my stereo stuff was stolen out of my truck as it sat on a dealer's lot being repaired.  HAHA maybe the kicker was a dual 4 ohm speaker then I was thinking it was a dual 2 ohm, but maybe it was 4 ohm, i'll have ot look when I get back to the shop monday lol.
