I am planning on installing a Sirius Sportster 4 in my 06 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport.
I would like to keep all the wires hidden and I was thinking that I would install an extra 12 volt outlet somewhere behind the dash so I could plug the unit in. I have never done anything like this and I would need some detailed help about how to do it.
I would really appreciate it if someone could lend me a hand.

YOu can get Sirius hardwire kits for just that predicament.    Crutchfield.com has them. Used a few of them in customers cars, work great, and pretty easy. Just need switched power and a ground.

I hard wire all them sat. units that have lighter plugs. Open up the plug solder a red positive wire in and then solder a black wire in for the ground make them a bout 8'' or longer and wire them in dont forget to add a new fuse inline with the right size fuse. run the postive to an acc. wire and ground the black wire. if you factory acc. outlet only comes on with with the car on go to them wires if not go to the factory radio harness. at way it will come on and off with the car. so you dont run your battery down. If you want a pic of this done i think I can come up with one. Oh ya good way to mount the unit so it looks good use a custom cell phone bracket. and tuck all the wires in this way you have minimal wire showing som time harly any at all.
