I installed a cd player in a 98 oldsmobile 88. I used the metra 70-2001 harness cd player works great, now customer  is saying since I installed it 2 weeks ago the trunk pop won't work? UH ok, anybody heard of anything like this, I have the car returning in 2 days, but I would like to hear of any thing similiar to this, anybody  have an idea. I know some cars have the keyless running through the radio but I haven't heard of this one, yet?..Thanx, I'll post my findings if any.

That's one I haven't heard before.  I'd probably test for voltage at the solenoid harness while a helper presses the button- try both the remote and inside the car.  If you've got no voltage, check fuses.  Also, ohm out and test the solenoid by jumping 12 volts (you can use a drill battery).  Basically eliminate the radio as the culprit since it's a pre-2000 model car.  I know on my car if I engage the trunk lock inside the deck lid, you have to use the primary ignition (not a valet key) key to open the trunk.  I'm not sure if this locks out the trunk release or not, but it's worth a check.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Check the trunk valet switch inside the glove box. It de-activates the trunk release switch on the dash.

Sparkie you were on 100%, I did call and ask her if this was turned off. "no my car doesn't have that" ok, she pulled in today I opened the glove box and there was the purpitrator, I turned it on and popped the trunk.

Roundtrip 130 miles     $20 gas

the look on her face        priceless.

Its so hard not to laugh sometimes........
