Car is Hyundai Santa Fe 2006 (new model). Audio is Panasonic CQ VD6503. How to connect steering wheel remote to this unit ? ANy schematic, advice, adapter ?

Head Unit (Panasonic CQ VD6503) has lead marked as external remote control, so my idea is to somehow connect it to OEM remote. As far as I know Hyundai in Santa Fe uses resostor network and based on which button is pressed it changes the resistance between ground and signal wire.I tried to connect it to a HU, but it does not work. Is there any info what kind of signal Panasonic remote lead works with ?

You're probably referring to the amp turn on lead. If it's blue/white, that's what it is. You need an interface like stated above, as well as the remote to program it.

I agree what nouseforaname said. Hyundai does use a multiplexed system (resistor network). What does Panasonic use for their wired remote input ? Does anybody has any specification? And this wire IS intended to connect wired remote. External amplifier control is something else (different wire).

Okay, my mistake. While there are vehicle specific interfaces, as well as those specific to certain brand units, I have not seen any for Hyundai or Panasonic: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/steering.asp.

I still believe the best thing in your case is to use a universal interface.
