2001 Chevy stereo in '87 El Camino

I've got an '87 El Camino that I just put a 2001 Chevy Blazer CD player into it.  Hooked it up with no problem, but the speakers won't turn up very much at all.  And the low volume that they are at is all distorted.  I've tried several sets of speakers and it's the same thing.  I've got 2 blue wires that are not hooked up coming out of the back of the 2001 radio.  Can anyone please let me know if I have to hook these blue wires to an AMP, and can you please let me know what these two blue wires are?  Thank you very much for your time.  I can't wait to have this hooked up properly!

Those who worry about things they cannot control, create their own punishment.

Factory units usually put out around 5-10wrms to each speaker. If you have aftermarket speakers you may be underpowring them. If thats the case then you will need to invest in an amplifier, or use the factory blazer speakers... And about the two blue wires, do you happen to remember what you pulled them out of???'89 Mercedes-Benz 300E

Blowing up in a car accident doesnt worry me, as long as I'm putting out some major dB's when I die...

Does the 2001 Radio Say BOSE anywhere on the front of it.    Wether or not it says bose   it sounds like it came from a system that had an amplifier that went with it.  And you don't have the amp.

Thank you for the replys.  It is indeed a BOSE radio from the 2001 blazer.  I wasn't aware that the blazer had a factory AMP in it.  There's not a lot of room in the El Camino for an AMP (and not too much money in my pocket for an amp)  Does anyone know an inexpensive fix on this?  Will the factory Blazer speakers make the difference?Those who worry about things they cannot control, create their own punishment.

The only way the speakers will help you is if the bose amplifier is mounted on or very near the speakers.  If so I can get that to work for you.

Your factory deck is only designed to put out a very low signal. The BOSE decks like this really only put out a pre-amp signal which isn't anywhere near what you need to drive speakers.I would suggest that you scrap the deck and put in a decent aftermarket one. This will give you far better sound and is easy to upgrade with amps and such. Unless you get the amp and speakers out of the Blazer and hook them all up, you won't get the results you are after. If you really want a factory looking deck, you have to get one that it is not a BOSE unit, or one from a late model vehicle that only works with the vehicle data bus.sparky
