Hey! Can anyone give me diagrams or STEP-BY little STEP directions on how to get the faceplate off and take out my stock stereo????????

I just bought a 2004 Honda Civic LX Coupe automatic.. and I THOUGHT I could just pry off the front faceplate then unscrew the stereo brackets... NO. I ended up denting/buckling the cheap-o vinyl dashboard covering.. WHICH by the way does anyonw know how to get the screwdriver indents out of the dash around the stereo? (there aren't any rips.. just dents) and I heard that I might have to take off the panel under my E Brake.. what's an easy way to take this off? there isn't any room to even put in a screwdriver.. OKAY GUYS SORRY THIS IS SO LONG but I dont really feel like going to carstereoremoval.com and paying 6.99 for a pdf.

Factory decks do not have detachable faceplates. Why are you removing the factory deck, to put in a new one? If so, the installation kit will come with instructions:

As for the dash, there's no easy fix really. You can either have the piece recovered, or replace it. An interior shop may be able to repair it where you won't notice it, but I don't recommend you attempt this on your own. You'll probably just get frustrated and make it worse. Otherwise just learn to live with it.

Remove the panel at the bottom center of the dash in front of the console. It probably has a lighter in it. It is held in with clips. Disconnect any plugs from it. There are two 8mm bolts that go directly up behind this panel. Remove them. You can now gently pull the whole panel surrounding the radio and climate controls out. It too has clips on it. As for repairing your dash, try using a hair dryer to warm the soft vinyl and massage it with your finger. It may help it to reform. You can also call a dash repair company. They are usually listed in the phone book under upholstery repairs.

but how do I get the piece with the lighter in it out? I tried opening up the flip up cup holder lid and getting a grip around the lighter part and it doesn't just pull out.. an dI can't seem to feel any clips....

I dont mean an actual faceplate for the stereo.. I mena the whole plastic piece that comes off that surrounds the stereo and AC/Heat vents. and this stereo I got 2 years ago and took it out of my old car when I got this car so I don't have the instructions.. but I know how to put there stereo in.. its getting the plastic part off and getting everything else off so I can get my stereo out thats the problem

DO your self a favor go buy the dash kit for the car. The part number is 99-7899 and the wire harness is 70-1721. When you get the dash kit, it will come with instructions on how to properly remove your stock radio.

If you go to the site I posted above, you can download the install kit manual, which will tell you how to remove the factory deck. I've also seen this site posted as a good tool: http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/Adobe/HO-52-01.pdf

Thats what I was going to suggest Geepherder. Go to the section on Profit brackets and click on the install guide for your car and it will show you how to remove the radio to install their bracket.
