ohms, wiring subs, wattage?

K, I'm confused about wiring subs. Lets say I have (2) 4ohm DVC subs to be wired into a mono amp thats 1ohm stable. I've read and heard that the amp will be seeing 1 ohm and I've heard it will be seeing 2 ohms. If the subs are 500 watts RMS and the amp specs are --1000 watts RMs x 1 @1ohm   ; 800 watts RMS x 1 @ 2ohms  ; and 400 watts RMS @ 4ohms--- what wattage will the subs be recieving?

Well depending on how you have the woofers wired, which can be one of two options, a 1 ohm load which would provide 500 watts per sub, or you may have the subs wired to a 4 ohm load, which would only provide 200 watts per sub, based on your amp specs.
