Ive installed a kicker 700.5 amp that lasted about 8 days. One day I started my 02 chevy silverado extra cab diesel and drove about 1/2 mile and the amp made a loud sound and started smoking. I sent it back to kicker and they have replaced it. The problem is this that this is the second amp that smoked! I check the ground and the power lead and found no problem. I than started checking the speakers with a ohm meter and found that the right front speaker shows 15 ohms so I checked it again and it now shows 12.5 ohms. Can anyone tell me why this could happen and if it could fry an amp?  Also how to fix the problem. I wired the speakers to the factor harness. Im thinking about runing the wires direct to the speakers and skip the factory harness all together. Any assistance would be appreciated. Oh by the way none of the fuses in either amp or the power lead failed. The kicker ask for a 90 amp fuse under the hood but I had a 60 amp in its place just to be safe.

Thanks

Scott

sounds like major problems with that speaker.   I would replace it and make sure to check all the other speakers as well.
