Hello. I have a '03 Gmc Sierra SLT Z71 with the factory bose system. It has good sound but weakass bass. Ive few questions about the system. I'd like to SIMPLY install 2 subs under the rear seat with an amp, to have more bass. Id like to keep the factory 6 cd changer head unit cause i like it. Id like to know if i can do this with the OEM head unit, and if i can, where to hook the remote on wire and signal wires for the amp on the HU?. Also I hear this system has externally amplified speakers, but since i want to keep them do i have to worry about this?  i searched other topics for my questions but found nothing appreciate any help .  Thank You

You should have no problem adding a sub(s) to the stock bose system, I do it all day long.

You will need an adjustable LOC (line output converter) generally a good one is 20-25 dollars. Tap it to a pair of factory sub wires, if no factory sub to the rear speakers. It will come with directions but if you need any further assitance with install we are here.

As far as remote a concern is the RAP (retained accessory power) of the stock deck (you know it stays on for a while until you open the door) I have had some luck on certain GM vehicles locating this relay near  the fuse panels. If not you can conect it to acc at the ignition harness, or if done properly tap it to an acc fuse but if you can't find the RAP relay or fuse/wire the subs you add will turn off with the key, while the rest of the system will be retained unitl door open. If this is not a concern that'sall there is to it.

If you really want the amp/sub you add to utilize the "RAP" and you can't find it on your vehicle post back and perhaps someone else here has had sucess. You can not tap acc directly at the back of the deck, it can't even power a relay but there may be a way to do it with a resistor/transistor setup, but as of yet I haven't had the need so can't advise there.

Enjoy.
