8'' 4 ohm DVC sub for my MTX 251D Amp

Hey guys, I'm in need of new subs for my car. I’m currently running 2 8inch subs with 2 separate amps… due to limited space in my car. Anyhow, I have 2 MTX 251D’s, each powering an A/D/S 308rs 8inch 4ohm DVC sub. The amps are turned to about ¾ of the way on the gain, and still these subs can’t handle the power… they sound like they are busted after a certain volume. So I’m wondering what 8” subs are out there that can handle my amp(s), but won’t be as huge as the JL 8w7? Any input would be great! TIA

That sounds a little suspicious. Perhaps they sound that way due to improper gain setting? Well my vote goes to the Arc Audio 8". Fantastic sub with plenty of output, small enclosure requirements, and a very natural sound.

Oh I almost forgot...The Ascendant Audio Assassin's. Local shope here hit a 150 in the kick with six of them in a 3.6cube enclosure....'89 Mercedes-Benz 300E

Have you guys by any chance heard of the shallow-mount 8” sub made by Pioneer (TS-SW841D)? It appears to be able to handle 120w continous & 500 peak. But I’m wondering if it will hit nice due to the shallow mount design…

I looked on their website and the woofers looked pretty big (depth wise), and I also couldn’t find their power ratings… does that mean all their subwoofers for that line can handles 1000watts?

It may be due to an improper gain setting… but these current subs are supposedly are rated from 30-200watts. So I’m still in search of some better subs. I liked what this sub had to offer, but couldn’t find any prices online (maybe I just didn’t search hard enough). So I’m going to call one of the local dealers this weekend to see how much then run.

The pioneer shallow subs are less than impressive. I have sold a few at my shop. Even when they are in the pioneer specific box, they really lack impact and any low end extension. I would catagorize them as a last option type deal, really good for trucks with absolutely no room.

The arc's will have to be had at an authorized dealer. No internet sales. I believe they retail for about 180 ( I think we do), each shop will vary.

The eD's are or were manufactured by Image Dynamics, which also has a hand in the Arc's. The idq and arc series are very similar, but the arc has slight advantage due to a stronger motor strucutre. Although you may find some great deals on the ID gear, and they work well in even smaller enclosures.
