Hello,
I am new to the forums and have been searching for several days on various sites (including this one) to find a solution to my problem and am hoping you can help.
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel Laramie. It has the factory RBQ (6 disc changer) radio and the 7 speaker Infinity sound. I am trying to put in the JVC KD-AVX1. I have read in some forums that all you need is harness kit with the amp turn-on lead and all is well to re-use the factory amp and others have said I have to bypass it. My amp is located behind the glove box. I am trying not to cut any wires in case I need to return to stock. What is the real answer to integrating my amp?
Secondly, I only plan on using the amp that is built-in to the JVC unit and was wondering if I could use the front speaker leads on the JVC to power the 3 speakers located in the dash with a 500htz cap as well as the 2 front speakers in the doors.
What are your thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

my experince with that car is you have to rewire the ampilfier behind the glove, a good way though is just disconnect the harness and use t-taps to each set of speaker wire.... test the main harness for ign. ground and 12volt constant...
Thats SIK!!!!

you do not have to bypass the amp.  pac makes an interface that retains the factory amp, gives you 12volt and accessory wires. part# pacc2rchy.  available from any audio dealer.

I would have to agree with autofx.  If there is a speaker in the center of your dash its probably a dedicated center channel created by the amp so youd lose that if you rewire, also i think... your front speakers are 6x9's or maybe they're 6-1/2's either way if you cross them over at 500hz you'll have no bass or midbass in your truck.
