Recently installed a pioneer deh-9600 in my aurora.  I rewired all the wired for the deck since there is not a wiring harness for this vehicle( has the GM-ribbon).  The cd player seemed to work find there for a couple weeks.  Now it tends to turn off during  a song and will turn itself back on again.  This will also occur sometimes when i mess with the volue controls or other buttons.   Is this a pioneer issue? Or install issue?

Also, this has nothing to do with the cd player turning off, but i was trying to connect my Ipod directly to the front aux input of the cd player.  Is this possible? i bout a 1/8" male to 1/8" male plug for this and it would not fit into the deck. Other solutions?

If it's turning on and off by itself it could be an install issue if the connections are not made properly, or it could be a defective deck.  Check your installation and if it's good take the head unit back where you bought it for warranty repair.
