I have a friend who gets Original Dynamat at wholesale price because he's a fiberglasser and knows some reps/people who can get it for wholesale and I work at Best Buy and get a very good discount on Dynamat Extreme.

My question is if the Extreme is that much better than the Original? or should I double it up and use both on top of each other? Would doubling it up help or just be over doing it?

Sure, you can double up, but I'd recommend using two layers of the Extreme... The Original is pretty lame as far as adhesive capabilities are concerned... If you put it down first, it will pull off eventually (as it will always do - and MUCH sooner that it would by itself, due to the extra weight of the Extreme being attached to it - and I have no idea how well the Extreme would stick to the Original), wasting BOTH the layer of the Original and the better Extreme. The Extreme, laid first, will not offer a smooth enough surface to adequately bond the (VERY rigid, and not nearly as malleable) Original to it.
Just remember this: 2 layers will NOT give you twice the damping - it will give you 1.5 times the damping of a single layer. You need 3 layers to equal twice the damping of a single layer.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Haha alright, so now I'm going to ask if I should go with one layer of Extreme or two? Price isn't really the issue but even so if it's not worth it I'll just go with one.
Thanks for the reply.
