sony amplifier wiring

just wondering, i'm wiring up a 1200w amp, obviously gonna go with 4 guage. but the question is, should i spring the bucks for a amp install kit or could i just go to somewhere like home depot and just buy the cable by the foot? or is it of inferior quality? i already have the fuse holder, etc.

If all you need is the wire, just buy wire.  Wire as part of a kit is not necessarily (and often isn't) any better than bulk wire.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

i have a sony explode 1200W amp, (200W X 2 @ 4ohms RMS) (250W X 2 @ 2ohms RMS) (500W monaural at 4ohms RMS). 2 12" MTX blue thunder subs 250W RMS 4ohms. now for wiring it, i was told that runnig both those subs in parallel will present a 2 ohm load at the amp and therefore slowly but surely destroy it. i'm assuming my only option is to wire them in stereo. am i right?
