i own a 1995 mitsubishi galant es...
Just recently i installed a sony cd player and now all my dash lights such as the ones behind the speedometer and rpm's, stopped working... and every time i shut down my car and turn it back on... the clock in the car resets back to 1:00 pm and on the cd player it also resets back to one and all my radio station presets and lost...
Any suggestions... on what i could of done wrong?
thank you

popped a fuse(s) for the illumination (did you connect or cap off any orange wires on a harness, please tell me you bought a harness and didn't cut off the factory harness)
you also have no constant power (the yellow wire on the sony) that keeps the clock and presets. fuse(s) or you didn't hook it up right

Yes i bought the harness... from best buy... i put the wires together my twisting them and by covering the copper with electrical tape...
Im not so sure if i capped off any orange wires...
could you be a little more specific?
and where would the illumination fuse be?
is it where all the other fuses are, such as defogger, windshield wipers,blinkers... etc....
Where do i have to hook up the yellow wire to in order to get constant power???
Any help will be greatly appriciated
Thank you

Thats the harness that best buy supplied me with...
I think what i might of done wrong is that i problably put the yellow power wire to a non constant power...
but i dont know where that wire is...
and where are the fuses that i might of blown?
once again i will greatly appriciate any help
thank you

everything should be color for color when connecting the two harnesses. if you're not using the illumination (orange) then cap it off. if there is also an ORANGE / white and ORANGE / black then yank them out of the harness. those are dimmer and dimmer ground that you won't need at all. use a multimeter and check ALL the fuses in the car and under the hood. had someone come in tonight saying they checked the fuses and were fine, but guess what i found. . . a blown fuse for a constant

Hey, just letting you know that i fixed the problem...
I pulled out the orange wires
and my red and yellow power wires were all wired together
and the reason why my dash lights didnt work was because there was two fuses broken under the hood...
Thank you very much for all your help!
