Hello. This is my first post, but I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm replacing an AVIC-N1 that was stolen out of my truck ('04 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel)

Anyway, I have identified the +12V, Vss, GND, and Illum. But there is one wire that was cut that I have NO IDEA what it goes to. It is WHITE/ Purple and the voltage fluctuates up and down when the vehicle is turned on. It was tapped into for the previous install so I know it was used for something.

Not sure if this helps, but when everything BUT the mystery wire was connected, the motorized screen comes out...but the display is blank. Any thoughts?

where is the wire located? behind the radio?

Log on to www.pioneerelectronics.com and register it is no big deal. Then in the search box type avic-n1 then click on th installation manual. It will let you open it in a pdf file. It should have everything that you need there.

This is what the book said about your wire.

Violet/white (REVERSEGEAR SIGNAL INPUT)

This is connected so that the navigation system can detect whether the vehicle is moving forwards or backwards. Connect the violet/white lead to the lead whose voltage changes when the shift lever is put in reverse. Unless connected, the sensor may not detect your vehicle traveling forward/backward properly, and thus the position of your vehicle detected by the sensor may be misaligned from the actual position. Note: When you use the ND-PG1 speed pulse generator (sold separately), please make sure to connect it. When you use a rear view camera, please make sure to connect it. Otherwise you cannot switch to rear view camera picture.
