Hello, My F-150 w/ premium sound has a factory amb buried deep in the dash below the head unit. I want to add an aftermarket, Rockford 4 channel amp. The speakers are upgraded.

Where and how do I tap into the wires for signal. I have a 4 channel LOC that Ill hook up and go from there to the amp with RCA cables. I want to keep the factory head unit because I like the 6 disc factory installed Clarion changer. Crutchfield tech help said I cant splice in for signal directly behind the head unit. I cant figure out how to disassemble the dash enough to expose the factory amp. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What year F-150 are you working on? The last 06 I worked on i was able to get it to work with an adjustable loc by peripheral. It has options to change the input and output signal from hi/low and adjustability for both, Also is it the ford premium sound with 6 disc? or a jbl premium sound? again year of vehicle would be very helpfull.
git yer swerve on!

Hi, it is a 97 model 4x4 Lariat ext cab. This was the first year F150 with the modular engine(4.6 or 5.4) I dont believe it is JBL . It is the Premium Sound with a 6 disc changer that has a Clarion label on it. It is not the newer Mach system.

rewire all speaker directly to amp, way better sound quality and its just easier than screwing with amps.

Plus you can run real speaker wire, not 22gauge factory crap.
