What TS param should I be looking for in a sub suitable for a bandpass enclosure?

The parameters of the sub in question

Fs 38.1hz Vas 2.2ft3 (63.1L)

Qts 0.38 Qms 10.13

Qes 0.4 Xmax 0.157" (4mm)

Pe RMS 175W (575W max) Re 3.49ohms

Sd 64.3" (415cm2) Cms 0.257 x 10^-3 M/N

As per JBL Speakershop, that woofer should work in a bandpass enclosure with acceptable results. 1.0^3 for the rear chamber, .25^3 for the front chamber, tuned for 74Hz. This will give you a bandwidth of 29.4Hz, and 159.7Hz (f3 points). If you'd like graphs, I took screenshots, and I can send them to you.

Still a pretty cheezy woofer, overall, but it should work. Be very careful in your construction, make certain your volumes are EXACT, and be certain you implement a STEEP subsonic filter at 30 to 35Hz.

Yeah I would be interested in the screenshots. I try to learn something with each project...

I know that nobody likes the sub, but at the price it sounds just right.

The bandwidth... Is that FROM 29.4 to 159.7? So I want to filter it at around 35hz, making the range 29.4-35? I should be able to do this with the crossover built into my amp?

Im gonna try to calculate it out in WinISD, to see what size the port should be & get some more dimensions. I have 2 identical amps, so maybe will build with 2 subs...

You want a subsonic filter set to 30-35. It is a high pass filter,so your sub will not play below this frequncy, because if it does in that box, the sub will unload and very bad things will happen!

Sharp21, you're still messing around with that same sub? I remember your thread from 2 years ago!

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Yup that was when I first got that badboy! Its been my testing ground for new builds!

What happened was her car ended up giving out shortly after I got the build installed, so the whole unit was in storage for well over a year.

When I got the landrover we threw it in one afternoon so I would have beats, but now ive got the itch to build something new. I also have an identical amp to the one im using that is brand new, so thinking of just getting another xs1212 & using the pair. I never got a chance to post a pic of that install, so here it is as it sits currently in the rover:

Still in the planning stage. Id like to incorporate something like the in the pic into the build, so its a lil tricky.
