I just took out the factory HU to replace it with my Pioneer and I have certain colored wires that aren't even supposed to be in there. 2 wires don't even have covering around them-just plain wire. I know the 12v constant and switched and the ground, but that is all. How am I supposed to figure out what speaker wires match up with the harness?

Not sure if I am missing something in the question, but a couple of ways...

if you know that you have all the correct power ground etc. than trial and error.

go to the speakers and see if the wires at the speakers match the wires in the dash.

Do you have a wiring guide? Does it look like the factory deck was pulled for an AM deck before snd then spliced in?

STEP ONE: Did you buy a wire harness to plug into your factory harness? (if not get one...much easier!)

Or are you cutting and splicing? (not recommended)

The harness sounds like you have the Delco/Bose system in it. Was the Factroy HU cassette or CD? Does it say Bose on it?

Mine 95 harness had the same thing. The uninsulated wires look weird, but they are supposed to be there. I gutted everything stock and rewired the whole system. Bose can go to Hell; sounds like crap anyways.

I can't walk you through what you need since I never tried to interface to the stock equip, but do some research for Bose interfaces for Camaro's and I'm sure you'll find all you need.
