I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban and I'm trying to figure a way to custom mount some 6x9 speakers in the front doors. I did numerous searches but it seems all custom jobs I found use component speakers. Has anyone ever done this or do you know of a link where I can find more information? This should be the same for all GM full-size trucks and SUV's as they all have the same front door panels. Silverados, Sierras, Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, Escalade, Denalis, and Avalanche, they all share the same doors. So if anyone can find me some info on 6x9 mounting for any of these vehicles, it would be a great deal of help.

The only info I will give you is this. If depth is not an issue it can be done..well just about anything can be done if you have the tools and skill. The mounting hole will need to be cut to size, a space plate may need to be used and you can make one out of wood/mdf. You won't be able to purchase anything over the counter for this..it is a custom fit, that I can guarantee.

Also you need to make sure that the door panel fits back on without bulging from mids/tweeters that stick out too far. Dynamat can come in handy as well to help the seal as well as prevent rattles from all the extra bass a 6x9 can reproduce vs. the smaller whimpy factory speaker.
