i have a 99 ford ranger and the doors have some funky sized speakers. I was curious if anyone has luck with 5x7 separates? i have seen JL and Alpine both have some reasonably priced ones.. But you never really know till you get then into a automotive environment.

If your wanting to do a componant set, use a 6.5 and tweet. You can fab an adapter plate for the "round" speaker to fit the "oval" hole. The speaker are 5x7's
