Done some searching on here and see that MA Audio isn't too popular to some people. Have also been searching reviews online, and like everything else in this world, lots of mixed reviews. Have came across a few different models that have been reported to overheating and frying, but came across this line that has built in fans and a perforated case for air flow and it does not have any bad reviews, so curious if anyone on here has dealt with this "HK" line and has any pros or cons about them. i have had some buddys that have ran some of the HK line, they love them for price and power. They do get a little hot, and if you dont have the voltage, they die. They are serious current hogs, but my friends still run them and love them.

My store sells the HK1000D, the HK2000D, and the HK4000D. They are power hogs, but great amps! The 2000D has 4X40amp fuses in it! Get your power system right before you run a few of em. They are also strapable, and capable of running at 28 volts. I have installed a few hundred in the last year. The only missleading thing in the specs is that they say 1/2 ohm stable. I personally have found that they don't like to see less than 1 ohm.

Other than that, if your pwer system is right; they will not run too hot. Hope this helps...

PS. I also sell US Amps and have hooked their 2000d up at 1/4 ohm and about half gain and run it for about 3 hours with no problems. Look into those if you like. Try the Merlin, and Exterminator lines.

Hey David, thanks for that info....I'm looking at two models in particular, the HK898 and the HK 598. And the way they would be run would put them at about 1600 watts. I had no intentions on messing with any alt or battery replacements at this time, so if i went this route would i be digging myself a hole for trouble in the future? I mean granted, I dont drive around all the time with it cranked up, thats just an occasional thing. But I want the power there when the urge arises to rattle my head.

The 598, don't know. The 898 and the 1898 are not happy below 2 ohms. I put the lit. to the test and found it to be not so reliable. You can try em at 1 but the ones i've sold didn't like the load.

Yep. Called the rep. He put me on the phone with the tech in the lab and as of a few min. ago the 898 and 1 ohm is not confirmed yet.

Well, reason I considered the 898 is what specs i have seen for it says 1200 watts rms X 1 (bridged mono 4 ohm load). Is that information not correct?

4ohm mono is correct. I was thinking about a lower ohm load ma audio hk amp line -- posted image. . As long as you stay at 2 or above you should be cool. They're really great amps.

FYI: They are only servicable by MA for warranty coverage.
