I know what these are rated at per the factory but we all know that there are many amps that can do much more and handle much different loads than what the manufacturer states. With that said, has anyone ever run the Kicker DX700 at 1ohm? I have a pair of Boston G5 10's, dvc (4ohms per coil) and I have one dx700 already. I was thinking of using one on one sub at 2ohms and then buying a 2nd dx700 for the other sub. However, if the amp is stable at 1ohm, I would guess the power output would increase a good bit, if not double(?) and thus, would be enough power to push these subs. I'm not going into competition with them so I'm not going to pound the daylights out of the subs.

The amp manual says it all.  This appears to be an honestly rated amp, and it it were capable of the currents that a 1 ohm load would put on it, it would be rated as 1 ohm capable.  The DX 1400 is, barely.  You can always give it a try...if the yellow light comes on or red light starts blinking, get that low impedance load disconnected.  These are modern times in the car audio electronics industry.  Gone are the days of cheater amps that perform above their rated specs.  Now, you can only hope that was is rated will actually work.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

To be honest, I felt the same way too. I just thought I'd throw it out there to see though. What about the older Orion 275sx? I know many Orions could do 1ohm or even 1/2 ohm... I have access to one of these and was curious if it could put out at least 850 RMS.
