fuse keeps on popping.

i have a 93 lexus sc300 and everytime i put in a new fuse, it pops as soon as i put in the "radio fuse" its a fuse in the engine bay. can anyone give me any suggestions on where to look to fix this problem? thanx in advance

Did you put in an aftermarket headunit?

First, stop putting fuses in it. That is there to protect your electrical system, and there is a reason it is popping. Make sure the power wire is not broken or grounded anywhere. You can do this by checking the resistance between the negative terminal of the battery and the cold side of the fuse holder with a DMM. If this reads anything, your power wire is grounded, and needs to be fixed. The second thing I would check is the equipment itself. Try unplugging the CD player and putting a fuse in. If the fuse still blows with the CD player disconnected, this is another sign of a shorted power wire. If it does not blow, there is probably a problem with your CD player internally. Try substituting another CD player, but only AFTER you have checked for shorts.

    Yeah like Austincustoms said stop putting fuses in it. But unhook the radio and put another fuse in it???       Putting another fuse in it is not going to be a problem, as long as you DO NOT put a larger fuse than it originally had.    You need to look in the owner's manual and it should tell you what else shares that fuse. I don't know if your radio fuse also feeds the cigarette lighter, but I would look for coins in the lighter.

Yea you obviously have a short somewhere in that power wire. You just need to trace the wire to check its condition
