Vehicle: 2006 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4x4

Equipment to be installed:

Head Unit:

Pioneer AVIC-Z1

Head Unit Accessories:

  • CD-IB100II iPod adapter
  • ND-BT1 Bluetooth adapter

Amplifiers:

  • Soundstream TRA 1400.2 2 channel amplifier at 4 Ohms (for the subwoofers) fuse rating: 1 x 40A & 1 x 80A
  • Soundstream TRA 1000.2 2 channel amplifier at 4 Ohms (for the 3-way component speakers) fuse rating: 1 x 100A
  • Soundstream TRA 340.2 2 channel amplifier at 4 Ohms (for the 4" speakers) fuse rating: 1x 40A

Speakers:

  • Focal 165K3P UV 3-way  6.5" (front - door and kick panel) RMS 200Watts
  • Focal 100KP (front - dashboard) 3" RMS 50Watts
  • JL Audio 10" JL Audio 10W6V2  DVC (subwoofers) RMS 400Watts (one pair)

Cables & Wiring:

  • Speaker Wiring - 12 gauge wires to all front speakers, 10 gauge wires to the subwoofers
  • Power Wiring - 0 gauge wire from battery to distrubution box, distrubution box to amplifiers 4 gauge, ground wiring 4 gauge
  • 3 - Monster Cable IMXLN2C 5M 2 Channel 5 Meter Micro XLN Interconnects

Dampening Material:

  • Dynamat Xtreme Door kit
  • Dynamat Xtreme Bulk pack 36 sq ft

What I would like to know is:

  • How many Farad capacitor/s do I need and what size/s?
  • Do I need a second battery for my audio system?
  • Do I need to upgrade my OEM alternator?
  • I have heard that connecting a system greater than 300Watts you should ground the system back to the battery's ground instead of the chassis ground. Is this true? Why and why not? Best recommendations for PROPER grounding so no whine/pop/dimming lights etc... ?
  • For the best bass response (accuracy) what type of enclosure is best?
  • If I chose to make the box myself what is the formula to use when putting in the: Fs, Qes, Qms, Qts, Vas, Vmax, etc... to create this enclosure?
  • Is there a work around for the AVIC-Z1 so that my front seated passenger can view the DVD while I am driving? Most importantly I just want the front passenger to be able to put in an address to get directions etc... I know that this function has been disabled so that the driver is focused on driving and not trying to watch a DVD or key in an address, but come on... did Pioneer ever think that you ONLY drive alone? This is why I would like to know a better solution than the flicking off your headlights 3 times etc...so my passenger can enter locations etc...
  • Would it be possible to get a basic wiring diagram? (this would be extremely appreciated)

Upgrades for later on:

  • 2 pairs of fog lights
  • Anti-theft security system (2 way funtion) - Can you suggest a good make, model for expansion accessories etc...
  • Remote car start system

I appreciate being able to post this and get highly trained, skilled and experienced professionals to assist me in creating my dream system.

Many thanks!

Read the forum rules about bypassing a video safety lockout please. It is illegal and downright dangerous. The balance of your info can be found by doing some homework and learning here on the site, say like the grounding for example, same with WINisd. You have far too many speakers going into the front of the car, more does not mean better in this case. Take the 4" out of the dash, do not put them there. Before you go and mount the tweeters anywhere, have the midbass and midrange installed and experiment with different locations for the tweeter by taping them into different spots and listening. Soundstream, personal preference, I would not touch it with Jeff's ****. If you have it, so be it, we will make it work the best it can. If you do not have it, get it outta there and go for a far superior amp like a Zapco, Alpine PDX, Eclipse XA, Focal etc. Compustar Pro is where you want to be for a 2way alarm system.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Forbidden,

Thanks for your input. But as I mentioned I really need the video bypass more specifically so that my passenger can key in address etc... not really for viewing DVDs. Due to your recommendation I halted the order of Soundstream amps and decided to get a Focal 2.150 amp for my 3-way Focal 165 K3P, but I still haven't decided on a proper amp for my subs. Any 'specific' make & model amps would be most appreciated. By the way, what do you think about Audison amps?

I will definately have my installer upgrade the 'Big Three' as well. But I still haven't found a solid guide to assist me on the capacitor issue. More guidance perhaps?

Also thanks for the 2way alarm info.

Many thanks!
