Ive got a Kicker S15L7 in a ported box and running it is a Kenwood 9152 Mono Class D amp. The sub itself will RMS at 1000w and the amp will RMS at 900 watts..Ive got it running at 900w right now. will that damage my sub or can I up the wattage on the amp to help the sub run at RMS stength?

underpowering will not damage a speaker

underpowering wil not damage a speaker, setting the gain inproperly and clipping the signal going to the sub will. Make sure your gain is set correctly and you will be fine

How do I make sure the gain is set properly. On the amp itself I can mess with the LPF frequency (Which is currently set on 150hz), the input sensitivity (its set to "1"), The ISF which is set at 15hz. Ive got a remote for a 0-18db Bass Boost and a frequecy controller mounted under my deck its set to the lowest at 40hz. I don't really know much about all this so any help would be much apreciated. Also at times when I have it turned up certain bass tones (not all) make my amp produces what sounds to be a vibrating Hum or some type of feedback that borderlines rattling. its not that loud but is audible when certain tones hit. Yesterday I had to rewire my power cable to the amp it had come loose could that be the problem?

900 watts is *plenty* of power for that sub. Properly setting a gain is a freaking huge subject and you should start with the search function and above and read a dozen or so threads on the subject. I'd google it too.

Anyway, specifically for you, your Low-Pass Filter is set WAYY to high for fidelity. Change that setting from 150hz to 80hz.. This will have implications for your cabin speakers as well. What are you doing for high-frequencies?

That 40hz setting you mentioned should be the peak frequency of your 'q' .. nevermind what this means... 40hz is a fine setting.

I believe that "ISF" you mentioned is probably an Infra-Sonic Filter... change this setting to 25 or 30.. NOT more than 30.

Not sure what a gain setting of "1" means.. this you have to figure out yourself. Every amplfier/head unit combination will produce a slightly different ideal gain setting. I'd stick with a very low gain setting, and then use that little bass controller to adjust volume as you prefer it.

Thank you all so much. I tuned everything to what I want them to be at and it's good. as for the rattling which I thought was my amp. its actually my trunk, It got louder over the past week. It's loosening up I guess.
