ok guys i have an 03 dodge p/u with the HEMI.  my oem 136A alt. is making noise which i believe is the bearings going out and possibly result of stereo eating alt. over time.  so since i have audio amps totalling 1100 watts rms i was looking at putting a HO alt.  from looking around i have an option of a 160A alt.  that is only a difference of 24A.  i have no idea how much amps my truck draws running and with lights on, a/c on and all the other typical asseccories with an slt 1500. so i have'nt a clue how much head room my stock 136A alt currently has.  Is a 136A alt. already sufficient enough for me and how can i tell if i need a HO alt.?  i plan on replacing the stock battery with an optima (red or yellow top) probably the red top and also doing the big 3 wire upgrade.  will replacing stock battery to optima and doing the big 3 upgrade and the stock 136A alt. be enough?  i dont know a lot about this so please forgive me.  thank in advance.

How many Amps do your Amplifiers require? The big 3 will help you; but a deep cycle batt really wont. You should really look into a stinger or other brand H/O alt in my opinion. Hope this helps.

well my mono amp says typical draw with music is 30A.  It doesnt say in the manual for my multi channel amp.  only that it requires a 50A fuse.  so i figured worse case 60A draw at peak to play it safe.
