Why would a 4 ohm sub speaker be purchase over a 2 ohm speaker?  a 4 ohm speaker requires more  power due to its hight imp/res.  So what would be the reason to purchase this speaker?

Thanks

There are lots of reasons.  Perhaps the most common one is to match the speaker load to an amplifier's load capability.  There are other performance-related and SQ-related issues as well.  It is not just about power numbers.

A speakers Ohm level has nothing to do with how much power it requires to run. Like DYohn said, its mainly to match the speakers load to what the amp can safely put out at a certain ohm level....
