if i wire 2 alpine type r 4 ohm dvc (1500w max) subs like the diagram below, what would my max wattage be?

Never believe the max wattage rating of a speaker. No speaker can take the max wattage rating for a continued amount of time. You should pay more attention to the rms rating of a speaker as this is closer to what it can handle on a daily basis. You should also make sure that you run a 1 ohm stable amplifier if that's how you plan to wire your subs.

Yes, Alpine Type R subwoofers are rated at a max of 500 watts continuous power.  1500 is the peak (meaning less than one second transient) electrical max and is not something you need to think about.  The power rating does not change no matter how you wire a speaker, and like mentioned above it is your amplifier you need to worry about.  What amp are you using?Support the12volt.com

that is the thing...im still planning this and havent had much experience with multiple subs. i was thinking about the Alpine PDX-1.600 and run these subs at 4ohms instead of one. i just wanted to know how big of an amp i need. so how about i ask this instead: How big of an amp should i use for this set-up?
