bringing it up a notch, add sub to hu

First off, I am just a family guy with a minimal budget and here is what I am proposing to do to jy 2007 caravan c/v. My cargo/van only came with 2 speakers in the ft. doors only with a 6 disk radio. I then added a pair of 180w peak(50w rms) 6x9 3ways in the quarter panels and now a friend gave me an empty small 1cu ft sealed box to fit a 10" sub. I then bought a 10" visionik  dual voice coil sub (250w rms, 500w max). That is my synario now here is my question, how is the best way to use this sub without adding an amp.

If I do use an amp with my factory head unit, Is there a decent amp that can use speaker leads as inputs rather than RCA  inputs. There is a switched connector I can use as a trigger for an amp.

If I connect a hi/low converter to run an amp off rear channels. My question is can I still use my 6x9's and my sub and can I use this amp to do so.

Yes you can use that amp to run your sub and your 6x9's. The only other thing you will need is a set of Y adaptors, available at your local stereo shop. Y adaptors come in several configurations, you need the ones with 1 female and 2 males.  This info will be very helpful when you go to buy them.   Simply connect the LOC to the rear speaker wires then run the patch cord from the LOC to the amp, attatch one Y to the left patch cord and connect the other ends of that Y adaptor to both left inputs of the amp. Then connect the other Y to the right patch cord. Then the other ends to both right channel inputs of the amp.  Turn both switches to the on position. Connect your 6x9s to channel 1 and 2 of the amp.  Connect your sub to the 2 wires labeled bridge of channels 3 and 4.  The switches turn on the crossover in the amp. There is also a knob on each half of the amp. these knobs adjust the crossover frequency of the amps. You will need to adjust these to your personal prefference. The hpf on channels 1 and 2 is the High pass filter. this blocks the lower frequencies from getting to the speakers.  The LPF on 3 and 4 is a Low Pass Filter. This blocks the highs from your sub.  You will need to experiment with these till you get the sound you are looking for.  I hate hearing anything above 70 Hz coming from my sub.  I would run the high pass filter at 100 or so for starters.  If the 6x9s are popping from too much bass, you may need to go a little higher with it.

I haven't actually bought the amp yet, but it seems like it can do the job for what I need and my budget.

I haven't bought the hi/low converter either, is there one you would recommend or they all the same?

How would you recommend running the sub, series or parallel?

The LOCs are all pretty much the same.  What is the impedance of the sub.  I am sure that amp will run no lower than 4 ohms.  If the woofer is a dual 2 ohm you need to run the coils in series.  If it is a dual 8 you can parallel them.  But more than likely it is a dual 4 ohm coil. This being the case you need to run them in series.

it is a dual 4 ohm sub, then series it is.
