morel vs dynaudio 360

 

   I have been running the Focals 165v2's in the front doors of my 2002 Lincoln LSE and to tell you the truth for a "mid" they are fine but,,, there sure is nothing in the lower freqs that are making me happy, especially if I try to put a little JL-450/4 juice to them. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to get the lows to mesh with the front and back and I think the limits of the Focals have me beat. I put three layers of dynamatt all over the doors, (inside,, and inside of the outer skin), as suggested by many others and on top of that added some closed cell foam. Yes it helped a little but mostly made the Lincoln heavier,, lol and yes quieter.

   I went by the local shop today to demo the small Focal ks13/13ks (something along that line) 5.25 "sub",, lol,, but there is a new version of it about to hit the store so I am going to hold off till I get some word back from the owner of the place as to his thoughts and to also give them a listen. (I won't let them work on my car anymore but they do have nice equipment there,, including Kef, Theil, Klipsch, etc...) But not Dynaudio of Morel.

   Now jamming two speakers in the front doors is going to be a challenge in itself and am very seriously thinking of going with Dynaudio 360's, I think with some very careful cutting and bracketing I will be able to put the 3" mids of the 360's in the OEM (2") center positions of the LSE, sound reflection is of course a big concern, and the 8" will fit the doors with only a very little mod. ,,,, or,,,,, should I take a look at a set of comparable Morels?

1. Seriously cut the car to fit another Focal speaker in the door, spending about $200.00? (Lincoln filled the kicks with electronics's)

2. Cut the car to fit a set of Dyn 360's $800.00?

3. Cut the car to set up for Morels?  $$$

 

$ isn't reallty the issue, it's the bruising on the forehead that has me concerned at this point

       

   Can anyone make sence of the article above and if you have any input on these issues please let me know
