Sony Head Unit Failure

How are connections made? Was a metra (or other) interface harness used? What other componants make up your system? What kind of vehicle is it in? What is the model number of the sony radio? Does anyone read the sixth bullet point in the "Rules of Posting?"

If my radio was talking trash to me, I would just punch it in the face.

When a sony says failure I believe it means one of two things; either there is a speaker wire pinched and shorted out, or there is a blown speaker or speakers. In most cases it is one of these two things the only other thing is I have had one sony say failure even when nothing was hooked to it, it ended up being an internal problem.

I went into the Expedition today to figure out what could possibly be going on.  I disconnected the rca's, the amp lead from the amplifier and still was showing up as failure.  I went back into the dash pull it apart and removed the head unit.  When I pulled the unit out I rearranged the RCAs and made sure I had tight connections in my wiring.  Nothing is really out of the ordinary.  I put it back together and no problem.  My question is if the rca were touching metal (the rca's metal to metal chassis) could that cause a failure message.

I have a 2004 Ford Expedition with the following componenets:

Sony MEX-BT5000, Alpine MRP-F240, Audiobahn ATB12AT Bass Tube, and Kicker Components K57.2 front and rear.  Also running a lightning bolt cap 0.5 Farad.

I did read the sixth bullet.  I think you may have been referring to the all caps FAILURE that I had put in my original post.  The reason I had in all caps is because in the troubleshooting area there are two different failures called out a lower case and an all caps failure.  Was not tring to yell :) 

Guys thanks for the help.  I will see if by me rearranging the rcas and wires in the dash did it.
