Hi All,

I just purchased a 2003 Grand An GT with the 8 speaker monsoon system. I would like to know if it would be worthwhile to upgrade the front door speakers and front tweets with my Boston Acoustis Pro Series that I had in my past ride. Also should I swap out the rear deck speakers. I have several old school Rockford amps that I might be using later in time for a pair of 12's but in the meantime is it worth the trouble of swapping out the factory speakers for my aftermarkets? I am not sure what the imedance of the stock speakers is and also Is the monsoon head unit worthy or capable of running my front components and new rear speakers. Please post if you have up graded with the stock mosoon head unit. btw....does the monsoon have any rca outputs or an external amp hidden some where in this vehicle??

It has an external amp. IMO I would remove the monsoon head unit and monsoon amp, re-wire the car with an aftermarket head unit and amp. Just a note you can put and $8000 pair of components off of a crappy head unit and you still have poor sound quality. In other words the speaker can only play what its sent via the head unit.

keep in mind too that the output for the rears from that Monsoon amp will likely be x-over'd and bi-amped... so it's tough to replace them with a set of 2 or 3 way speakers....

OEM amplifier is in the rear diverside quarter panel ( top side ). THe remote turn on is PINK at the harness behind the OEM deck. IMO, just rewire the 4 speakers to the Rockford amps and abandon the OEM wiring.
