leaky bed on an escalade ext

A customer brought in a 01 Cadillac Escalade EXT. He wants 2 15s in the bed. After removing the access door and pulling out the bed mat, i built the box and realized I should probably check to see if the bed leaks. Sure enough, water was pouring in from multiple locations. Has anyone ever done an Escalade EXT with the same problem? If so what was the remedy?

Sorry, no pics. It seems to be leaking from the seal under the rear window, and from between the # 1 and #2 bed cover panels

Yeah, the bed covers will for sure leak, I ended up making a new box that seals just like the access panel, then fiberglassing and coating the outside of the box with rock guard to protect the wood from water. I built a box for one of these trucks recently. I never checked to see if the bed cover leaked. I just assumed that even if it did not the customer might decide to take it off, exposing my creation to the elements. I built my box from glass. I went over board with my design but I suggest that you cover your MDF box with a single layer of fiberglass using vinyl-ester resin (much more water resistant than polyester) and .75-1.5 oz. Mat rolled out. This will be quick and very durable. Have you decided how you will fasten your box to the truck? I shot several screws through the mounting surface of the old cover (around the rubber seal) I noticed that the mounting surface was not flat (curved outwards in the middle). I relied on good clamping pressure from my mounting screws to compress the factory seal and make up for any variations in the mounting surface.
