I am in the process of upgrading the tunes in my dad's 2000 Ford F-350 crew cab. I already put 2 12" Orion XTR subs in the back and they are being pushed by 250w rms each, and the HU is a Pioneer Premier P8600MP IIRC. He put some bs Soundstream 6x8's in the doors and behind the rear seat, but as expected they sound like azz...

He has given me a budget of around $200, so what is my best bet for that price range? I can power them w/ the HU, or I was plannign on getting a little amp to drive them, whatever it takes for whatever speakers I get. He listens to country, but I will be buying the truck from him in a year or so, and I am all for SQ, listening to mostly rock and some rap...

I guess I should mention that the stock size is 6x8, but I would not be opposed to putting in 6.5" if need be.

Any comments???

You (he) should first think of powering his front speakers with an amp -first if anything. That may include upgrading them, too.

I would do this first. The front speakers are much more important. What size are they?

The fronts are the ones I'm talking about. Sorry if that wasn't clear...

Okay. If you can make plates for 6.5's, go for it. In fact, go ahead and get a component set -if you will power them with an external amp later.
