I've narrowed it down to the least expensive 5.5's madisound.com offers (I prefer 'least expensive' over cheap, lol)

ClarionProAPA-2104 (4ohm stereo, 50 x 2Wrms). They will be x-overed between 80 and 6000Hz.

Peerless; http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_228_254&products_id=1757

Or SilverFlute; http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_228_254&products_id=843

Hopefully enough people will vote for the Peerless's as they are cheap... er... less expensive.

Thanks.

My vote goes to the Silver Flute. No question in my mind. The extra $15.00 you pay for the pair will probably be well worth it, with the deeper extension the Flutes will give you. They have longer XMax, lower Fs, tighter Q (so as to be better behaved in a door), higher Bl (generally translating to better efficiency)... Cast basket will resist flexing in the door (a less than optimal mounting surface, as you well know). The significantly lower Le will allow a better transient response as well.
All in all, a driver worth FAR more than the additional seven-fifty each.
Oh, and prettier too! ROFL
:::::EDIT:::::
Warning, sarcastic moment ahead! Oh, and thanks, BTW... I was happy with my Adires, but now you've got me thinking about a mass-purchasable viable replacement for them, (being as Adire no longer exists, and I won't ever be able to replace my 6.8's, should I destroy them!) and at that price, I'm thinking about buying a few to try them out.
:::::SECOND EDIT:::::
Neither of those drivers will go to 6K. No 5" in the WORLD will go to 6K off axis, and off axis you ARE in the automotive environment. Depending on your tweeter, I'd not recommend crossing either of those drivers any higher than 3K, MAYBE 3.5K, but only up that high with AT LEAST an 18dB crossover slope, tighter, if you can!
6000/1130=5.3 inches. at 5.3 inches, you will be WAY down in overall response at 6K, using a 5.5 inch driver - probably on the order of 18dB or so, at 45 degrees, right about the angle from most mid-basses to your ear - but FAR worse on the driver's side (to your ear) than the passenger's side (to your ear). (The plot on the Peerless shows something on the order of 19dB from reference - ouch. Even at 22.5 degrees, it's 12dB off reference.) And no, you CAN'T equalize it back in - it becomes an issue of "sound power", something that cannot be fixed with EQ settings.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thank you so much. I did think the SilverFlutes would go lower than the Peerless's.

Question; right now i'm using 20g .25mH Jantzen air core inductors (2500Hz) on the 4x6's that are now in the doors. Should I go ahead and use these or get new 3000Hz ones? -I got the .25mH models before I found out my tweeters are h/p'd at 6000Hz. Anyway, am I going to notice a big lose in freq response since nothing will be playing between 2500 (or 3000)Hz and 6000Hz?

Thanks, Javin

Hey, now! Money's an issue here (if you can't tell!) so I don't think they're that bad!

1: Yes, you'll notice a hole that big. That's a HUGE hole!
2: I was agreeing with you... The Silver Flutes look like FANTASTIC drivers for the money. I need to find a good driver to replace my adires in case I ever pop one.

Alright. What can you recommend? Will it hurt them to run them up to 6000Hz (only 50watts)? Should I be thinking about using a dedicated midrange in between 3000-6000Hz? If so, any ideas?

What tweeters are you using? 6K seems REALLY high.
You have PM.
