I was wondering what the best way was to remove the rear speakers in a 2001 Honda Civic?

Dude... a serious, royal, and complete PITA.
You have to remove the back seats, the plastic trim right and left of the trunk opening, and then the rear deck.
If you need help, let me know, I've had to do it MANY times. I've got that same car.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Agreed, it's about a 1.5 hour job just getting all the panels off.
